This is the "9x7 bull from the WK" that people were alluding to on the other thread. The pics have started making their way away the intra-web already, so I thought I might as well post them here (pretty much public domain now!)....I don't know the lucky hunters...

The fronts/trez on this pig are fricken amazing!!!

The story is not mine to tell so I don't want to repeat what I know but it is a truly big bull. Makes my 6x6 W.Koots bull I got last year look like a whitetail:eek:...

I wonder how the fella in the pictures feels about having his face pasted all over the net... without his permission.. If so called friends released them then I would suggest a new circle of aquaintances that respect a fellas privacy be found.
Let the hunter tell the story.. both he and the animal deserve better.

I heard you past up that class of bull during your hunt, smart move as you surely didn't want to pack all that 'horn' weight out of the bush. As well as the fact you needed to take down an outside wall with a battering ram just to get that bull inside.

I agree with what vader says.

I don't disagree at all...but its pretty tough to keep the lid shut on a bull like this. The pic's got out before today, and at the rate e-mail works there are likely stories already being sent around of this being the new State Record for Oregon, or god knows where. In this age, once its out, its gone. I may be reading too much into Vader's words, but I get the impression he knows the fella and there was some effort to keep this quiet (???). If thats the case, I feel bad for the hunter if he intended to keep it under wraps (especially being the guy to put them here!), but someone else would have put them up later today or tomorrow...

On the upside, its not a bad thing for the rest of us to know there are still bulls out there like this one!! I doubt I'm the only one that gets fired up seeing pics like that. :D

I am sure the guy appreciates what he has, and is walking around with a perma-grin on his face....and he deserves to!

SSS,
Thanks for posting up the pics of the bull. That thing is a giant! Nice to see another big bull come out of BC again.
BTW,
I doubt they will claim that being the state record for Oregon. Have you seen the 460 bull that was killed in Wa this year that many are claiming for Oregon? Makes this BC bull look like a baby.

I did, and it does. I am sure it came from Wa though.

Still, I was just using Or as an example. People will make up all kinds of rediculous stories no matter how unbelievable! A good friend of mine is the fella in the picture of the big cougar shot in Washington a few (5!) years back. The stories about that thing are hilarious. :D

When I send photos via email I know full well that they will most likely be forwarded along. That's how the internet works these days! When you send out an email you always have to considered that you don't know who will read it or where it will end up. Our management at work stresses this and asks that we are diplomatic and really think about what we are sending out before doing so. Unfortunately the internet has taken away a lot of privacy. If these photos were meant to be kept in secret then they never should have been sent by email IMO. If the original sender asked his friends not to forward the photos along then maybe someone is to blame. In this case I'm not sure anyone would be annoyed with having their photo with this bull posted. What do you think happens if you enter an animal into a record book? A photo of a sheep I got last year was posted in a few hunting\fishing stores here in PG without my permission, quite frankly I didn't care too much and thought it was neat that I made the 'wall'!

Just for the Record, I DID NOT LET THIS OUT OF THE BAG AND I DID NOT SEND PICTURES AROUND.

The hunter did not want this to be spread around, he's a real nice modest guy and a friend of mine so I abliged and didn't spread the pictures around. I wonder who ended up emailing the pictures around:?:.

I was lucky enough to be the 5th guy to get his hands on this bull, the other 4 guys were involved with packing him out. Regretfully I was away hunting when the call came for me to help pack. I did get the honor of scoring him:biggrin:

Just for the record he's a 8x6

The hunter (young guy in the photo) -- along with his wife, are very good friends of ours. We lived in the same house for almost 3 years and I have had quite a few hunts and adventures with him!!

I do not know the guy personally. I do know how I would feel if my pic was on here without my ok. I did receive an email that said the hunter was a quiet guy who didn't want the pics out. I respect that and would honor his wish.
I do enjoy the pics, as anybody in his right mind would, but I never pass a pic on to anyone other than my most trusted hunting partners to enjoy, privately. To take someone elses pic and POST it on a site is to me just wrong. In my mind you can't justify recieving email pics as being good enough reason to post them using the "if you don't someone else will". The email is addressed to you personally...not the WWW. IMO it's about ethics and respect before, during and after the hunt.
Pics could have been released that were shopped to cut the hunters out leaving just the Bull. Then it just becomes another bull...not Joe or Ed or Bill's...

Just for the record, I did not recieve an e-mail like that. I recieved three emails with those pictures from three very different sources, each of which had obviously been forwarded a few times already. To my knowlege, none of those guys even knew the full name of the hunter in the pictures (it was just called "Andrew's elk" in one of them). Hence my statement that it was "out there" already, and effectively "in the public domain".

It's pretty hard to keep an animal like that low profile for long. Andrew probably won't care in the end, he is an extremely modest individual and is the type of guy who will down play the animal. He will probably say it was just dumb luck and not give himself the credit he deserves. I have hunted with him in the past and he is an extremely hard working and dedicated hunter. That elk could not have gone to a more deserving hunter in my mind (other than myself of course ).

He is a close friend of mine, and unfortunately I know he'll be a bit upset that the pictures are making rounds on the internet. The young guy on the right shot the monster in self defence!. grossed 415. He is the son of a docter from Nelson? maybe Kimberly. Really nice guys and deserved this elk.

Unless they rescored it (possible) the rumored 415 bull was from Creston, NOT this bull. The Creston Bull didn't even make 390.
This bull grosses 402 5/8, I intentionally left a little on him when I scored him so maybe a certified scorer can pull some more out of him. But I don't think he'll find another 12 3/8 inches.

I wonder what the policy of posting pics etc, is on HBC if the animal etc is not yours. Seems that misinformation could be a result of a post by someone who has not colaborated with the hunter.

In any case your good folks have made great points on the subject of posting etc. The hunter sounds like a great guy with a world class animal for all his efforts over the years hunting the same drainage. I dream of getting one that large, as I hunt each year.

Talking to the shooter on the phone a couple of months ago he was saying he had no idea of how the pics got on this site, in fact he didn't know until I told him. He was not upset but definitely humble and modest with the animal. The shooter used to guide up north in the muskwa-kechika area, good hunter and a great guy.

Agreed. C'mon guys, lighten up a little. Don't look for controversy in ever little thing posted here. If the guy wasn't proud of his trophy why the hell did he have pictures taken with it? It's not like he's screwing it for Crisake!
Unbelieveable bull. Something that will stand a long time before being matched. Congrats to the hunter and Mother Nature for such a fine animal.

Not farmed, not photoshopped or any other illegal behaviour one might dream up. Just hard work, dedication, perserverance, and talent !

I just received a pic of the Rosie taken on the coast. I cant post pics (dont have permission) but it makes this elk small. And with a muzzle loader as well. I think I peed myself

Then it will be a world record... I've seen/heard of most rosies worth talkin about... Lets see it.

Talent ? You must not have heard the kill story...from what the hunter told me about the hunt plain old LUCK had a major factor, heck they weren't even actively hunting when they got him! But I agree perserverance and dedication was a factor as they had been looking for this bull for 3 years!

This is what I know. I've seen this bull with my own eyes at the Taxidermy shop here in Cranbrook B.C.. Phillip Giesbrecht out of Apex Wildlife did the work on it. It's probably the best Elk mount I have ever seen. I think the gross score of this bull was 411 pts and net in the mid 390's. I found a kill once before in this area and it scores 370pts. It's a hot spot but a bitch to hunt.

I grew up in the WK, those Russian/Doukabour girls always had the biggest horns. Seems to extend to the elk too. Steroids in the vegetable patch?

Dude, that was funny! LOL! I've was eating out of that vegetable patch you talk about, better then VIAGRA!

Classic case why we don't need LEH. It was taken in a GOS unit.
