My buddy has an LEH for Bull Moose in a MU between Quesnel & PG, he has invited me along as Deer and Black Bear are open.

He is heading up for 3 days September 25th, what are his chances for Moose at that time? Are they in rut, how is the season going?

Also what is the copunrty like for deer? I've been looking at topo's and sat images and it looks like good country.

Just looking for opinions from those that live/hunt that area oftern.

Good time to hunt moose but I don't think 3 days is enough time . Moose are not like deer the population is a lot smaller which makes them harder to locate them. Yes I would go but I would not think a moose was going to go down.

I would go, you never know what your gonna see. 2 years ago drove 11 hours shot my moose first thing the following morning and had to turn around and come home the day after that.

And if you don't get a moose at least you were out hunting!

Convince your buddy to stay longer, its a shame that he has an LEH and is going for for only 3 days in the heat of the rut!

3 days is pretty short. Why not leave on Tuesday night and return Sunday night?

That said, 3 days is better than nothing. Beats working!

Hunt hard and you'll have a good chance at a moose. The population is stable and there is some to be had.

I need to clarify, his LEH is open til sometime in November, this is not the only 3 days he is planning on heading over, just the only three days he invited me along. He has more time planned, but he was thinking this was the prime time for hunting Moose in that area??

I was out "scouting " my LEH area for moose..it was 27 degrees..HOT..and nothing was moving... only found one set of fresh bull moose tracks...down near a swamp..however the rut should start ramping up around the 26th or so...LOTS of bears.... seen 3 and lot more sign...

3 days is better than nothing but 7 days is better..

I'd try to go longer, but 3 days i the bush is more likely to produce animals than 3 weeks on the couch...

I took a trip up to Northern BC this year- we knew we had only a few days to hunt, but it was better than sitting at home...:-D

You can't shoot a deer while reading HBC, 3 days is plenty of time, sure it would be nice to have a week or a month, but you have 3 days, make them work for you! Go and have a good time!

We just got home from a weekend moose/hunt scout trip...the pre-rut has already begun so by the 25th things should be really heated up. There are alot of mule deer around in the area your looking at so you should be able to pick up at least a nice meat buck in 3 days. good luck

The 25th should be mint timing as CanuckShooter said they have already started calling a bit. I called a nice 10 X10 out last weekend. I will be heading out this weekend and have the next week off, should be good. PS in the three days that I hunted last weekend I seen four bulls.
