It was more of a scouting trip because I'd never taken this trail before and was going solo. I meant to get to "the cabin" and stay over night and then hike the next morning to the alpine. I got lost taking a wrong turn after the first half hour of trail, ran out of day light and ended up sleeping in the truck for the night. Only made it to the sub alpine before I ran out of time and decided it would be smart to head back.
Some of you may recognize "the cabin" and the 100' tree ladder. Ran into a nice redish blond grizz in the sub alpine, he headed the other way too fast to get a pic, but he did leave behind some big logs for me to take pics of. I glassed the alpine from where I stopped and was quite surprised to see snow where ther was none 2 weeks ago. Anyway
