Hi everyone, long ago I posted my story on getting engaged over on the island. I didnt end up bear hunting during the trip though we did find a big one in the ditch on the way out to Ucluelet. So just got back from the honeymoon and getting ready to head out for my first stones sheep hunt in a few weeks. Here are some pictures I thought you all might enjoy. The whole thing went well and I wish I was still on vacation. However, getting ready for this hunt coming up with 2 members from this site that I met since joining it.

Above is an ostrich from an ostrich farm. As we drove by this farm in Solvang CA I wondered just how tasty they might be.

These are the power generating windmills, I wonder if we should do something like that in BC, it did look neat but after a few miles of them around Palm springs it got to be a bit of an eyesore.

I dont know if any of you play golf, but we stayed for 3 nights in a penthouse overlooking this golf course, of course though you had to get out at 630 am to play a round otherwise the 120 degree heat gets a bit overbearing. Still what a cool looking hole. I ended up playing a round on a different course at the hilton in phoenix for 40 dollars with a power cart. Tee time 7 am.

This is definitley going to be my new hunting rig. I wonder what something like this would sell for as the dollar is so cheap right now.

On the way to the grand canyon we ran into a heard of these guys next to the the highway, seemed like all the animals there are radio collared? At least the buck is. Big horns on him though.

and here they are running away as I got out of the car to go take some close ups.

The wifey and myself at the grand canyon. Man I was blown away by the size of the thing, I mean I have seen some canyons, but this thing is absolutley massive.

This is me being my usual stuntman self. No real stunt involved I suppose but on each side of me there is at least a 300 foot drop. Found out later that a boy fell off of that cliff last year and his dad dove after him trying to save his child. Both were killed. Kinda gives me the heeby jeebies looking at the picture now.

I wanted a picture next to a wild cactus. Considering this place AZ is so hot, you would wonder how life can survive. But there sure is lots of things that live out there, including pekkary, coyotes, pronghorn, california or desert big horn sheep not sure, snakes, lizards and birds.

Went out to the patio to do some BBQing and 5 feet off of the patio right behind the BBQ laying out under a tree is this guy. Of course I had to save my maiden and used a broom to lead him away. He was about 3 or 4 feet long. And in my leading he sure was rattling. Pretty awsome to see in the wild.

Right after the rattler incident, my bride was picking up her bag (off the floor) and found this guy undernieth. Well let me tell you she has some lungs. Anyone here in BC hear the scream? I think I went deaf temporarily.

http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/medium/tttDSCF1246.jpg (http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/showphoto.php?photo=10297&size=big&cat=500)

On a boat trip we found these guys circling over head eating what looked to be dead fish on the banks of the lake we were on. Vultures.

And the highlight of the trip (other than my wife) was seeing this band of sheep. Not sure if they are california bighorns or desert sheep. Not a full curl by any means, however still cool to see wild sheep when I have my stones sheep hunt coming up so soon.

Overall the trip was great though! Thanks for looking. Too bad I over reduced the quality of all of the shots.

Dave,

Do you know if that was that a Mojave Green or a Diamond Back Rattler?

it had diamonds on its back, so that is my guess. Lets just say it was deadly either way?

I was in California last week as well on a work assignment, the guys on the job site I was at find Mojave Green Rattlers once in a while. The policy there is to whack their heads off since they are apparantly the most venomous snakes in North America and are also said to be somewhat aggresive.

I convinced one of the guys to not let the snake go to waste and skin it. He plans on putting it around a cowboy hat.

BB14, You better watch that you don't hunt too much because it looks like your wife has big lungs to yell at you. Congrats on getting married!

Thats absolutely terrible, makes me sick to see someone killing a snake then skinning it to put it on his hat. I can stand hunting, I enjoy doing it. But these pictures to me, is like if I posted pictures of a dog that someone killed and skinned out.
