First off you have to reduce the picture down to 900x600. I use Photoshop for this function; you can download the trial version. Once you’ve gotten your image reduced and save to a jpeg somewhere on your computer then it’s time to go to the website.

Click on “Gallery”
Click on “Upload Photo’s”
Click on the “Browse” and locate the image you have saved on your computer and select it
Enter the title of the photo section and a brief description of the photo in the “Photo Description”
Then select “Upload/Submit” and this should put that particular photo in your gallery.
To put a picture in the forums you open the picture then right click on it and select “Copy image location”
Then you go into the forums do your little write up and put your tags in.
CtrlV the CtrlV keys hit at the same time is the same as the paste command. With the tags in place the image should appear in your post.

Good luck and if you’ve got any problems feel free to contact me.

Marc.

Marc, Thanks a bunch. The instructions are explained clearly and make sense.

Marc, another question. Is it possible to sort the order of pictures in your own gallery?

I've uploaded a couple times with the succesful note showing up as well. I read in the tips section you have to resize the pics and I don't know how to do that so... Perhaps the message could say something about the pic sizes being too big if indeed that is the problem??

I've uploaded a ton of times. Here's my method...

1. Click on the "Gallery" the link is right under the HBC logo.

2. Click on "My Photos" It's on the lefthand side, just above the pictures.

3. Click on "Upload Pictures" It's on the righthand side just above the "Search" option.

4. Click on "Browse" It's on the righthand side.

5. Search through your files (usually in "My Picture" on your hard drive) and choose the one for uploading.

6. Click on the picture and then click on "open" This will put it in the space just to the left of where the "Browse" button is.

7. Add a "Title" for the picture and then move down the page to the "Upload/Submit" button - click on it.

8. You'll get a mostly blank page with the message that the program is "Processing the Image list". Be patient and the program will automatically put you back to the "My Gallery" page with your uploaded photo right there.

Just like this one below. Can you guess where it was taken?

I just tried it again for the fourth time and now I got an error
that says " PA060041.JPG (exceeds filesize limit)

Does it only work for small mega pixel cameras I think this camera is a
8 mega pixel kind.

Do you resize them Bow Walker

I'm guessing Saltspring Island for the pic you posted.

Marc

you have to resize the pictures to 900px X 900px max size or it wont work

Dave - Saltspring Is.? Sorry not there.

If you need to re-size, this is what I do...

1. Open the picture with "Paint" - I believe that it's an embedded program with Windows XP.

2. Click on "Image" in the top menu bar.

3. From the drop-down menu selections click on "Attributes" and make note of the picture size to see how far you have to shrink it. You have several choices in there as to how to view the size of the pic - choose "Pixels"

3. The second choice down in the drop-down menu is "Stretch/Skew" - click on that one and a box comes up to let you choose how small (in percentages) that you wish to shrink the picture.

Work within the top box labelled "Stretch" and input something like 75% in both the "Horizontal" and "Vertical" areas. It takes just a little bit of experimentation and you can get quite creative with it.

If you want to "crop" the photo just go to the bottom right corner of the pic and hover there with your mouse cursor, you'll see the pointer turn into a double ended arrow if you get right on the corner of the pic. This will allow you to "drag" the edges of the photo inward (both horiz. and vert. at the same time) so that you can down-size the the picture without losing the original size of the photo subject.

You can then choose "Flip/Rotate" from the Image drop-down menu to move the picture around so that you can crop it from whichever edge you choose.

4. When you're happy with the size of the pic, go up to the menu bar and choose "File" - choose "Save As" from the drop-down menu and give you photo a name such as "0012 Cropped" and save it. This way you don't loose the original photo and can reuse or keep it on file, yet you have the "altered" shot for posting.

5. after you've done the re-sizing thing, just follow the steps in the above post to get your photo into the thread or reply.

All this sounds difficult and time consuming but it takes longer to explain it than it does to actually do it. Besides, it brings out the artist in you.

the easiest is to upload them to photobucket ..once they are there ..click on pic..it will get bigger ..go to right of pic .click on the IMG code bar it will say copied..go to your post ,..right click ..then hit paste.should be good to go .
