Thanks Elkhound! This bear is actually an Alberta bear, from near Grande Prairie. I suppose it should be in the out-of-province-forum, but maybe the mods can move it.
The short version of the story; we saw this bear hanging out on a gravel road, acting real goofy, obviously rutting. I snuck up to about 150 yrds when all of a sudden he turned and headed straight for me, not knowing I was there. I dove into the bush and got ready, and he wandered right towards me and began to turn onto the cutline in the second pic. I ranged him at 47 yrds and made a textbook double-lung shot. He bolted 60 yrds up the cutline, then 40 more into the bush, and was finished. We weighed him field-dressed at 250 lbs even (we figured 285-290 live weight), and he was 6'7" nose-to-tail, and 6'11" across the paws, giving him a 6'9" squared hide. His skull green scores 19 3/16" from what I can tell. He's my best bear so far, and my second archery bear. Had two meals off him so far, and both have been delicious:biggrin:

Yeah, I figure that when a bear has good length, it will make an impressive rug. I got a smaller blonde bear earlier this spring with my bow as well, and I'm going to do a half-mount out of him. Its been a good spring:biggrin:
