mail or fly?

I want to fy from alberta to BC with a shotgun. Is it best to mail it over, and meet it there, or put it with the check luggage? If ido fly with it, whats the protocol? should i phone and ask the airport, or is it best just tos how up?

Fly with Westjet - shouldn't be a hassle. Needs to be in a locked hard case if I recall correctly. Have the key ready as they will want to inspect it before it goes on the plane.

Air Canada will charge you $50 and they're a pain to deal with. Probably loose your luggage if they don't loose your gun as well.

Phone the airport and follow the straight forward rules.
