Here's a link of my wife and I training our 1 1/2 year old golden. She had a great first season, and is coming along very well. I resisted getting a golden having always been a lab guy, but my wife insisted. Now I doubt I'll ever be without one. I hope you all are enjoying the off season as much as I am.

Maddy started last season at 77# but was 70# at the end of the season. She's a bit small but definately has the big heart needed for retrieving! Geese can be a struggle but at the end of last season she did well with all of them.

Great pictures and videos. The last time I was involved in waterfowl do training was with my father many years ago. Once we have moved and settled in our new home we’re thinking of getting another dog that I can train for waterfowl and upland hunting. Gazu, our longtime family pet is a great companion and friend with a big heart but he does not like hunting.

Nice to see a golden in action, looks like he's coming along great. So when is the big move happening?

Dano 70 lbs for a female lab is a big girl. I'm sure she can handle anything that hits the ground or water.

My Chessie Marshall is just shy of 8 months and weighs 87 lbs so far and he's still growing. I've got him retrieving thawed birds from last fall and hoping to get him his Working Certificate this summer and work on his junior hunters as well before the season starts. He's in the show ring this weekend here on the Island in Mill Bay if anyone is attending it this weekend.

Here is a video of Reno doing a blind retrieve for a pheasant. Reno does not know where the bird is. She heads toward the bird because I told her, but you can see her turbo kick-in when she spots it. It was very Alberta windy last year. My brother shot the bird and the video.

When we were in high school we tied a rope to a pick-up and water skied the canels in the video.

Who ever said you don't need a water dog for upland birds.... that was good.

Now a shamless plug, I have a litter of labs due any day now, pictures of the sire in my rant under Hunting Dogs, and more details in the Off Topic area. These will be awsome gun dogs.

Thanks Jim
