Well, it was the opening day of the spring goose season today and my partner and I got skunked in area 1-5. I missed one LONG shot, and that was it. I called a flock in, but other hunters shot one and winged some before it got near us, and, you know how it goes. Anybody have success?

We did OK in 1-5 today. I didn't shoot any but I get credit for the dog.

I recognize the area from the picture. I believe it was your dad who shot one of those geese from theflock that I called back into the field. We left at 12:30 and only two geese had been downed by then.

Well crap! I've been fighting the flue since Wednesday and forgot all about the opening of the spring season, not that it would have mattered much anyways as I can barely get myself out of bed let alone out on the marsh or fields.

Nice to see some geese hitting the ground!

Hows the dog in the laydown working out for you? Good pictures, we should be out tomorrow morning, stupid monday opening, I'd rather have 4 full weekends to hunt and 2 days minus regular season like the island, then our late season with only 3 weekends monday to monday.

The dog loves the blind. We spent 8 hours in it yesterday and 4 hours today. She was wagging her tail the whole time. There is plenty of room. She has a good view to mark birds and although she broke twice I can call her off quickly and reset her quickly.
I was concerned about safety at first, but we practiced with the blind for 2 weeks before we used it in the field. Also, Reno has experience in other blinds. I shoot left handed so I keep her to my left side, (and anything else i don't want to destroy I keep to my left), and I also turn the blind 45 degrees left in the decoys. All my shooting is to my right. I haven't shot over her head yet. It is easy to keep the gun pointed away from the dogs head and away from my feet.

To bad about the lost weekend. I guess you guys need that extra 2 days for all the traveling you have to do.
