I've used slow cooking methods off and on for some time, but not for several years..

As a chef, I usually end up whipping up some nice grilled meat dinner etc wehn I get home, for myself and the gal to at for dinner. Unfortunately, too often these days I am so busy at work, and end up eating at work, and tossing together some pasta, stirfry or something to feed the gal at home, while the great meat in the freezer languishes until our days off, when I have a chance to cook it...

So I picked up a slow cooker, and plan on tossing stuff in every AM, to come home to nice boiled meals at the days end.

Should be good, I'll keep everyone posted8)

Hey Clark, I've use the crock pot to make deer roast in and it turned out awesome. I imagine it would be good for bear as well where it tends to be a bit tougher then deer.

Love the slow cooker, just finished an awesome spicy venison stew, slow cooked for 7 hours. Super tender meat!

Big ole crock pot + tougher cut of meat + veggies + wine + herbs/spices + time = one great "no fuss" meal when you get home from a hard day at the salt mines.

we have 2 crock pots - I am always cooking for parties and get togethers where there is lots of people so the crock pot is a great kitchen appliance must - we love to also have a bowl of soup before meals especially on eat and run days when the kids have someplace to be and its before supper at least I know they have had something healthy before rushing out the door or on days when Peter is working late and supper will be a later meal then the kids can snack on soup or stew that has been prepped in the crock

I am seeing a new trend for volume II of the HBC cookbook as more and more new people join more and more recipes to have

Crockpots rock! Its the only way to do a roast, or ribs! I find its not needed for stew as it makes it to mushy!

I own three regular sized crockpots and one 1QT sized crockpot. Used them for years. Usually use only the one but on occasion had to use two as I have two ravenous teenage boys. Small one is for me when I want something different. I`ve used all three of the big ones at one time for some of my wildlife dinner parties. They sure do come in handy.

Crockpots are great because we can't leave the stove on "simmer"all dayin case it burns down the house:wink:

Duck confit would be easily made in a crock pot!
