Well I just got my blonde hen duck that I shot a month or so back from the taxidermist. Once again, I'm very happy with the results, considered how cut up this one was in the chest he did an excellent job. Done by Terry at Natures Window in Agassiz. He said even a CO came in and checked it out and thought how neat it is. Truely a rare bird.

And a picture of comparing it to a normal coloured hen mallard

That's a pretty neat looking duck for sure and definitely worth the cost of getting it mounted.

Will make note of the taxidermist, very nice work and well worth the money to have mounted!

Micheal, I see from the other deleted refuge post you seemed to of changed your mind or something?

So what are your thoughts on my barnyard bird if you wouldn't mind telling everyone else??

I wouldn't worry too much about the comments, considering there coming from a guy that skybusts snows.

awesome! Looks more like a hen pintail hybrid than a mallard hybrid though...kinda looks like a pintail x redhead

Its wierd that you see a pintail or a redhead in this bird. I can only see a hen mallard but I'm honestly curious where you see those birds in there? :p I havent even seen a pintail or redhead on any hunt in the past couple years, sure would like a pintail one of these days.

Good to see you had it mounted, nice job!
Make sure you keep it out of the sun, you wouldn't want it to get faded!

I've phoned around to alot of places, I know for the money you are probably getting a better product but anywhere from $200-400 I've been quoted. Also the turn around is normally longer the more money they cost I have also found, I guess they take a longer time to do a best job they can for the money.

I have also got some work done by Terry at Nature Windows in Agassiz. I like his work that he does on the birds. Below is the Great Horned Owl that I got him to do for me in October 07 I believe.

Speaking of a blonde mallard I just remembered that I took a couple pictures of a pair of Mallards and the hen happened to be a blonde one. I took the pictured as we were launching the boat to go sturgeon fishing. Pictures are not that great for quality as I was taking them while the engine on the boat was running. Made them a little blurry. Pictures were taken on January 5/08

Enjoy.

It definitely looks alot lighter in colour then it should, it normally happens more often in hens then drakes. Cant really see from the pictures but the back half of the underside almost looks white unless thats just shiny glare, could be more of a domestic cross, though the size seems to be right, it doesnt look bigger then the drake its with. Neat bird though.
