I remember that there was an old thread to post pictures of your dog but that seems to have disappeared. So I thought I would start a thread to post pictures of your dog(s).

Here's Winnie my Golden Retriever. She is an excellent hunting and fishing partner.

Joe Boxer.
We call'em Joey, for short.

http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/DSC_0006_edited-3.JPG

We have had the pleasure of this pooch being in our company, for the better of 6 years. Over this period of time he has earned our respects, over and over again.

For a Boxer, he is now in the early part of his senior years; I swear that each time I look at him, his muzzle contains more grey than the last. When his time comes, it'll be near devastating for us.

WTS. The goof thinks he's still a 2 year old.

My lab after a freak accident this past fall. Took a stick into the eye. :|

Never in my life heard or saw a dog yelp, howl and screach in pain. Happened so fast when going through some blowdown - a slip and right into a stick .... had to tackle him, hold him down, and took 1/2 hour to settle him down. Then he was in shock, I had to carry him almost 2km through bush, blowdown, a wetland and then a couple km quad ride, then an hour and half truck ride to the vet...... I don't wish this sort of thing on anyones dog. I'll post up a picture of him from a week or so earlier.

BCrams Dont get to discouraged if your Dog has only one eye.... This is Max we lost him 2 years ago... he was 19 yrs old as old as my younger brother... we got him the same year... 2 yrs old he lost his eye... 7 yrs old he got hit by a car and blew his hips apart... the vet said he would never run again... with out a titanium hip... My parents couldnt afford it so we nursed him back with some meds and a little extra Love... he ran better tahn ever... he was Blue Tick hound and Lab... we never lost an animal while he was alive... and I got to chase a few cats with him on solo hunts... he can never be replaced... I will try to post up some more pics of him after scanning them...anybody who thinks one dog couldnt run a cat has a lot to learn... He also had the Biggest Nuts I have ever seen on a dog... had a hard time sitting... this pick is from way back... 10 yrs ago..

Holy $h!t BCrams... How's he doing now, with the transition to one eye?

There is nothing worse than having a sick or injured dog.

Mine is only 5.5 and she has elevated liver enzymes. Did an ultrasound, blood tests and they have no idea why ($700) 2 weeks ago.
She grinds her teeth, and her teeth are fine so they think shes in pain.
Said put her on milk thistle for 2 months and come back for more blood work to see if her liver enzymes go back to normal.
So far it hasnt helped, she still grinds her teeth every day and I constantly feel sick to my stomache, not being able to help.

Some great looking dogs everyone. Definitely man's best friend! I have a black lab male that is now 10 years old and he is showing it, this duck season was really tough on him. We hunted him almost every day over the Christmas break and he was very stiff and sore as well as losing about ten pounds. This is my dog Billy, we got him last year from the SPCA, he is the best dog i have ever owned, learns fast almost on the first success.
We havent been hunting yet but i hope to start training this spring and get him out next season, he already catches rabbits mice and rats when we take him for walks, and when we tell him to drop them he lets them go live and usually they run away unhurt (except for mice they die everytime).
We just have to get him off bears as any bear scent and thats all he is after and i dont hunt bear at least yet anyways :)

He is part lab and just about everything else you can think of, he likes to herd any animal he can sheep etc. if he was trained he would make a good work dog but he just likes to chase the sheep in one group with no destination.

I was sitting here checking out things, when my daughter Breanne decided to interupt my thoughts and saw the dog pics here - she has decided this is the best thread on the entire site (she is anti-hunting Breanne made vegetarian so she says) even if the dogs are hunting dogs, guardians, companions and babies - she still loved the fact that so many people have a love for their pet - she is very pleased and that is a hard feat to do with her

sigh I do have a true soft spot for Rotties but never have owned one. Considered getting one for the past 3 months or so but came to the conclusion that I didn't have the space inside or outside. Time - yes but big dogs need more space. Took a while to convince the daughter we lacked the space. Se also has a soft spot for them but would have been happy with any big dog.

wow, Echo he is gorgeous - I have a blue heeler and I have a black lab - now I know what they would look like put together (my heeler is 50lbs and my lab is 110 lbs so the weight for "Blue" is nicely distributed.

I assume you were referring to my dog? ;-)

Yeah, I figure the cross is pretty much a common enough one.

When we picked him up at the airport we heard from the driver who brought him over from the terminal that nearly the entire shift of cargo people at that location were 'ooohing and ahhh-ing' over him. We must have got about ten compliments from folks in a very short period of time.

My brother-in-Law is visiting from N. Ireland right now, and when that old cattle rancher saw him I just know he wanted to pup-nap him and take him back home with him when he goes ;-)

I think Koda will make a good bush/duck dog.

Thanks for the nice words too ;-)

Yeah wolfman, i was talking about your beautiful pup...something about brown noses in a yellow lab dog.

Sucks being in University right now, even if i were allowed a dog in the appt, i wouldnt be able to dedicate enough time to her. like i said though, as soon as i get out, i will be buying myself a brown nosed yellow lab.

Ah, so you are in Residence out at UNBC?

I remember living in Residence at UBC: Same kinds of rules. Really strict and at first they allowed NO pets whatsoever - not even a goldfish. I guess I kinda understand the policy, though from time to time I spotted smuggled cats peeking out of dorm windows ;-)

Well, when you finish, I wish you well in getting a dog that you really like.

Right now I have one exhausted puppy on my hands. He's asleep in my daughter's room, snuggled up to the stuffed Mallard puppy toy I gave him today - gettin' him interested in ducks EARLY on ;-)

Regards.

This is Nikita. She is pure bred border collie; herds EVERYTHING. I bought her for my g/f but I think she has decided to be my dog. Super smart but lots of energy. This will be her first hunting season. Not sure how she will be, but if we can get over her fear of water, she may be ok, lol. She is definitly part of the family, most spoiled dog ever.... Here she was helping us build my cabin.

Luna is our latest dog. She is a Whippet / Border Collie Cross. Monti died last November, it was time. She is/was a rescue from Surrey. We got her last Monday, she was scared, but showed lots of intelligence. We were told when they went to get her she just cowered in her crate. Now she retrieves, knows where she is allowed in the house, rings the bells on the door to be let out for her "numbers". Fitting in well:

Here's my dog Felix Unger. Got him about a year and a half ago. Basically this guy I know (I don't wanna say bad things about him, sometimes he's a good guy, he's a client you know) was taking him to the SPCA. He said he was a horrible guard dog (bull##it) and he didn't have the time for him. He asked me if I wanted a dog, and I figured what the hell I might as well take a look.
Felix was cowering in the back of this old rusty van just freaked out. You could see his ribs and he was pretty rough looking. My boss used to train dogs and went out and did a quick personality test. Felix wouldn't let him come close to him, but somehow my boss saw something in him and told me if I give him some good attention he'll get some confidence and turn into a good dog. That was an understatement.
The first thing I did when I got him home was I went into the freeezer and got this big chunk of deer stew meat the size of a football, he wouldn't take it till I left but when I got back it was gone. I gave him his space and three days later he let me touch him.
Since then he's turned into a very well behaved, well mannered companion. He doesn't bark too much but don't try and go near my shop when I'm not home. All my buddies compliment his manners all the time and the ladies love him (he never grew out of that puppy face). Anyways ya I'm pretty fond of him, he goes everywhere with me. Except hunting, unfortunately. I found out later on from the original owner why he's so gun shy, some people just shouldn't own dogs. It's a long story. Anyways here's my little bros.

It sure is neat to see everyones four legged freinds. Whe our 3 kids cleared the door for the last time, my wife and l replaced them with our "brown clowns" The last two years have seen alot of our house furniture chewed as well as shoes (usually visitors), socks, clothes (and just about anything else they could get in their mouths) destroyed. It's been a great time

Here is my 2.5 year old. CH Firepoint Diego FD (CH Malhaven Maximum Ice x CH Navigator Kittyhawk FDJ).

I figure I harvested over 600 wild birds over this dog in the last 2 seasons. We finished his Field Dog title this spring taking 4 tries to do it. 2 of the 3 passes were with Gunners choice and the other they didnt do a Gunners award but had the Gunners come up that evening and tell me had they awarded the Gunners Choice my dog would have gotten it. Defiantly a proud papa here.

Here's my "Lady". Pic #1. We rescued/adopted her when she was due to be euthanized at a high-kill "shelter" in Chilliwack. She adopted us (to be truthful) and has been training us ever since.

I take her for walks down the Galloping Goose, by the ocean. She just loves chasing around after rabbits, squirrels, quail, and anything else that leaves a scent. When she gets heated up - it's off to the ocean to cool down.

On one particularily windy day my hat blew off into the chuck. Pic #2 Without hardly any encouragement on my part, she was off into the water to retrieve the errant chapeau. Pic #3 Good puppy, good puppy, bring it to "daddy", atta girl....

Mine is an 80% Wolf with some Malamute. He's super independent, and has the spirit of a cat more than a dog. Used to take him hunting until he tore out the back of my truck cap to chase a 4 point Mulie down the mountain b4 I could get there, so now he stays home during hunting season. ;-)

Yup....we love Buntzen especially. I've been hiking it lately with heavier packs, trying to get in Sheep Shape, and he's always like "Awww..man... I'm not 3 anymore!" Gotta try the new Meindls tomorrow. See if I can get over a 35 lb pack. Working my way up to 50 lbs.
He's almost 11 now, but still going strong.
And I'm biased, but I think he's the best looking canine I've ever seen or owned.
He really is incredible looking, and scares the crap outta the Celestials. (J/K)
If you're in the area, we should meet up with some local HBC'ers, if you're all into that. Have a pint?

This is my dog Phife. She's a 2 year old Shepard/Terrier that we rescued from up north. Her mother/father were strays that lived off the Salmon scraps bears left behind.. mohter died giving birth to her and 9 other pups. She was the runt.

Spotted a few ducks. She didn't know what to do. Plateau Lakes.

I've taking her shooting with me a bunch. She really loves the gun fire and smell of powder. She actually jumps at the barrel and tries to chase the shots. So lots of training to do this year. Want to get her out hunting birds with us.

Shooter clan mutt...... Boone:-D

If he ever stops eating cat shit and stops chasing his own tail, he might actually turn into a hunting dog. Not holding my breath tho....

This is Drake - he's 9 months old and is progressing pretty well. Loves being in the marsh, retrieving wings and dead birds. Has yet to bring back a shot bird but I suspect that has more to do with my lack of skill than his lack of desire.

It is her first winter and I took her out today for her first time in the deep snow. SHE LOVED IT! :-D

Except all of her training went out the window. She couldn't sit still for a second she was so excited. She even took a couple nasty wipe outs running full speed from a packed trail to deep powder.

This is our lab, Murphy, she is a duck dog extrodinaire but also likes to point. I understand that there are breeders who specialize in pointing labs.

I doubt he'll ever outweigh our cat though, never mind stand up to any other animal (ie. dog, cat, bear, cougar)
he'll probably live a long life so it'll be a while before I get my Dobermanhttp://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon12.gif

Brittanys, Vislasa, Pointing dogs galore, and a few others...

Sorry i couldn't choose just one, there are a few non dog photo's mixed in.
I love taking pictures of my pooches and other peoples dog, I'm trying to get a portfolio going if you would like a couple good ones of your dog PM me. I hope to eventually get my hunting license and back my dogs a few times, as they are definitely getting good at finding the birds.

I love seeing everyone's photos. And seeing where everybody goes, such wonderful stories, dogs truly are man's best friend. :-D

i recognize those spots as well seems a few of us must live pretty close to each other.Awesome looking dog, love the two different colored eyes in the close up.

Just saw that, lol.
Thx a lot! Yeah, he's a cool looking canine.
Good to know there's a lot that live close. I'm thinking of a shoot-off at the range in PoCo, and/or a dog run for HBCers. Should be enough folks to make it fun. Beer and wings after etc etc.

Well we have 'bit the bullet' and aquired ourselves a dog. With the amount of grouse in the area (as opposed to where I lived on the Island) I went with the Springer Spaniel.
http://ericnimmo.weebly.com/uploads/2/9/0/6/2906672/5216519.jpg
I am pretty sure that with the right training, she will be a superb bird dog. Great field breeding and she already has an affinity to running and flushing..... dickie birds. But it's a start!
And then my son can learn the pleasure of hunting with a dog too!
