The last couple weekends have been pretty uneventful, Lots of migrating ducks not wanting to come down, and all the geese heading west out of the roost instead of our way. Well that all changed on friday, both fields beside us started to get huge numbers of swans, around 100-150 so its quite a sight to see. Parts of the fields are now flooded so then the ducks come, and then the geese see all the swans so they come too.

We set up around 5:30 and waited for shooting time, in 30 minutes without a robo we got 10 mallards, my brother(mattchu_19) tripled on the first bunch to come in. We could've shot our limit but the geese started to come so we switched calls and enjoyed watching ducks land 6 feet away from our blinds. The geese were all in big flocks, from around 40 up to flocks of 200 migrating. The first flock circled us a couple times and then 6 dropped out of the flock and landed right into our hole and started walking around. We decided one in the hands better then two in the bush so we sat up and they started to fly but two 2 got away. The wind then completely changed but we were too lazy to move all the decoys around so the birds didnt finish where we wanted them too, We shot another two out of a flock at about 15 yards. Birds kept working us but the wind was really screwing everything up so we decided to pack up and hunt another day. As I speak there is another 200 geese in the field where we were so we should get another hunt out of it.

Once again we've been shooting little geese, two average size westerns, and then the 4 out of the first flock are most likely lessers but they're a bit on the small side so they could be tavernors.

Yup, super over here on the Island too. The bears knocked a lot of corn down and the geese and ducks are after the scrap. We quit early with 15 ducks this morning. Back at 'er tomorrow. Sunday update: tried a different spot just because, shouldn't have, slower brought home 8

Went out this morning again, lots of ducks flying to a nearby knocked over corn field, where a couple other gusy were shooting them pretty good it sounded like. The field we were in has held around 300 geese the last two days so it sounded good. We had 3 small flocks completely decoy and land right into the decoys at 10 yards, and we ended up with 6 geese and a wigeon. Since geese are closing this weekend, its gonna be ducks for the next month, we'll just have to break some ice off the ponds.
