As the internet advances things are getting harder and harder to do safely. Thus if your reading this and are using a VPN your not going to get an account. I try often to screen applicants and allow as many as I think are legitimate and are not here to harm the site. Many applicants of late are from countries that are reputed to be untrustworthy and yet others just plain are a risk and get punted.

So if you are legitimate and cannot get an account, send me, Marc, Elkhound or Gateholio a PM and we will check things out.

With malware, spyware, and data tracking/mining trends in online spaces it is increasingly recommended for personal security to use a VPN at all times when online. Seems a little anachronistic to resist that.

Thanks Steelco. That explains why I'm blocked at my office (we have a VPN) but not at home. No big deal, no need to fix it. Appreciate the explanation.

No argument here. But as I (we) still need to manually approve or disapprove memberships this is the best your going to get for now. The sites owner has the last call on software updates!

What's the point .....you guys never reply.

All emails go to me. I work a 40 hour week sometimes 72 hour weeks, have a family, Pets, chores etc. I'm not on the computer 24 hours per day and the Moderators and Admins do a great job helping me keep this website up and running.

Obviously someone actioned your request or you wouldn't be on here posting.

Regards,

Marc.

Hello, I am a new member and found a spotting scope in the Grasslands, Lac Du Bois area. I would like to return this to the owner, but am unable to find how to post. If you are the owner, please email me the make/model, and I will return it to you.

If your are able to post here your also able to post in the mainland section of the site. Hopefully word of mouth get the goods back to the owner.

I just wanted to add that I was unable to get the activation email sent to either one of my Gmail accounts. I checked spam filters/tried all manner of things off and on over a few month period.

Eventually I just created an outlook email account and got the activation email sent to me fine. (It did still end up in the junk folder)

If anyone else is having the same problem, and has been able to create an account but not receive an activation email, this is a work around.

Gmail seems to have issues with this site? I've been here and had a gmail account for many years. I cannot get notifications on my gmail, simply changed it to my "other" account. All works good.

It might be easier to deal with the huntingbc webpage display problem I am having over the phone. You can give me a call at 250 706-8581. I am not even sure if you got my last message about the trouble I am having with huntingbc webpage, I can only get the text version. Help is needed and the frustration level is increasing. Thank yuh!

What is Mark's Thread name? How do I reach him on huntingbc? The Contact Us huntingbc is not working for me. Can you relay the trouble I am having to Mark so he can get back to me. Thanks for your help Steeleco!

Just a side note. Keep in mind that some workplace sites may have blocked websites while connecting to their internet. For example porn sites may be blocked and, if they are anti hunting, hunting sites as well. I experienced this while working up the oil patch in Alberta at one of the camps where I was stationed. To circumvent this, ironically, if I used a vpn, I got around this as the vpn did not show my original location.

Took me awhile to figure this out as to why I could never connect to HBC when up in the oil patch. Porn sites blocked, understandable, but hunting sites? Give me a break.

We were also having issues with gmail email accounts where for some reason gmail was blacklisting any confirmation emails to people trying to register. We hope we have that issue resolved and it should have corrected itself in the next 48 hours.

The Gmail delivery issue has been mostly resolved.

Mail is being successfully delivered to Gmail addresses, but you may need to check your Spam folder for the verification (or other) email. We recently added an SPF record to rectify the non-delivery issue, but it will take Gmail's algorithms some time to adjust. Please mark it is "Not Spam" as this will help.

And welcome to the forum!
