Hmmm...
If its me I'd prolly forget it in the tent! LOL
But hypothetically speaking a short bbl 12 ga. is prolly the best answer, pump action with mag loaded and action open or double SXS unloaded till you need it. The pump can take a small flashlite mounted under the bbl. if you like. prolly hvy buckshot is best for real close ranges, unless its a premium slug I would'nt bother with them.
Problem is there could be safety concerns with this scenario.

Model 12 with a heavy load....there is alway 2 or 3 in the tent in moose camp in northeastern Manitoba. I have had to shoot 2 bears just outside the campsite the evening after they got too close the night before. The tin can trick around the coolers that were buried in the ground to keep food frozen for a 10 day fly in trip did both of them in.......they came too close a couple nights in a row. Mind you....they got the .308.......but the Model 12's let us sleep in comfort.

hi- mines a sxs double bbl coach gun two triggers, grab both triggers at once and hang on, very reassuring- also will often reach for it when i'm packing meat too- rarely take to the bush without it. cheers rrfred

I have been camping and hunting for almost 60 years and cant remember any member of our groups over the years ever taking a gun to answer the call of nature.

Nope, I never bring a gun to pee at night. I might get confused and shoot my foot off with a too vigorous shake.

Oh sure, I saw it, but I don't bring a pee gun.

When I was building my house, I dug an outhouse out back.

Sometimes when it was real dark and cold, wind howling and all scary, I would take a gun out there, whatever was handy.

But I did it because I'ma sissy and I was scared!

Actually, once we had alot of bear problems, and I had to stand outside with a gun whle the GF peed!

I once went for a "stroll" on a fly in trip up north, when I got back the guy in charge tore me a new one!! "Where you go, it goes" since then it's been my practice unless in a rec site. I used to hug my mossy 500 at night, after a blackie made a new back door in my tent in the early 80's, since then with old age:shock: I figure the odds of it happening twice??
