Some websites said using trapping is the best way to get turtle. Do you guys have any other ways and where is the best the place to hunt these turtles?

I saw this post and was just curious as to why you would wanna catch turtles? Are you gonna keep em as a pet or eat them or what?

I'm new in hunting. As I know the snapping turtle is classified in schedule C with like crows and house sparrows. That means it's a kind of pest animal.
I tried some turtle soup made by other guys and it's tasty. So I think maybe I can make it too.

I used to bump into them freedving from time to time. seems they like shallow dirty water. DON'T piss one off. I had one snap a Aramid/Carbon paddle blade of mine once. one bite and $200 down the tube. wouldn;t take much for them to remove a finger I'm sure.

I knew them from the Red River system but didn't know they were out here. What areas are they found in in BC? Fred

theres a turtle pond on the side of the highway in kelowna you can see them all the time, im guessing 300 mag or larger would take one down.

I was talking to some friends and they saw a snapping turtle in the Hope slough a few years ago.I don't know if there was more living in there or if it was just a pet released.

I'd Definatly invest in a large caliber rifle for taken down those tuff buggers. hahaha
Maybe a .416 Remington Magnum. hahaha Mark's got the right idea(make turtle soup on the spot)

Maybe a .416 Remington Magnum.

With a 300 grain barnes, it works great!! No cleaning required....

Aaawww, come on guys ! Put some sport into it and use a spear ! Wait til they are on dry ground (ala G.House) or in the pond (ala Amphib ). Just don't let them draw you down for the 'Death roll'. And if you find them at the local birdwatchers pond, beware of screaming grannies with clubs. What is the best looking mount for a shell ? These days, an ashtray isn't very P.C.

We got Painted Turtles here but I wouldn't eat one, man they are in some pretty swampy kinda lakes. The shells would probably make a neat strike plate on a bow though.

300 mag huh? Them suckers get pretty big do they? :)
