I thought I would introduce myself. I am 35 and a new hunter (this fall will be my first time). My father in law is going to be taking me out to Mount Baldy Oct 1 and I am very excited.

I am very urban, a tree hugging hippy, and used to be quit the anti.

So I have been going to the range every weekend to work on my shot, going from unable to hit the broadside of a barn to hopefully being somewhat competent.

Welcome Brian

The more you learn about hunting, the more you learn that hunters are the first and truest conservationists, much more so than any tree hugger...Although, hunters liek trees, too!!8)

Like Mark said try showing your hunting pictures and sharing your hunting stories with your old pals, but you know there's always room for more friends to be made and there's not a better place to start than right here. A ton of great people and a great variety of hunting experience and knowledge from small to big game and so much more. welcome brian glad to have you aboard!

Enjoy your season, mt baldy area can be a tough hunt depending on the weather so don't get discouraged if you don't get anything. Having said that you will probably get the grand slam, muley, whitetail, moose, elk and a turkey so enjoy.

Welcome, and congrats on being open minded enough to give the other side a try. And yes, hunters do like trees too....bow hunters REALLY like trees, to the extent they'll sit in one all day waiting for a buck to show up. Good luck on your upcoming hunt, hope to hear all about it and the trophy you bagged when you get back. Chilko

Once again thanks all for the welcome. As for patience its one thing the men in my family have been blessed with in spades. I have plenty of patience... but been cursed with a short attention span. C'est la vie.

Give'er ca-ca, mon-chum! First-hunts are fun, and you will remember them forever. I'm here in Ontario, but have been to BC enough times to know I will hunt there one day. Leave a couple of animals standing for me, OK-killer?-matti

Hi Brian, I'm a new hunter too. Make sure you hike up as high as you can, and stay quiet and you will be successful, that's what worked for me

Welcome Brian fire away on the forums with any questions and you will recieve a prompt answer. There are no silly questions just silly mistakes made by those that were to afraid to ask. I say this from personal experience!

#1 Always be safe first and by extension #2 be well prepared and #3 get out in the woods as much as possible armed or not as experience finding and stalking is the best teacher.
