i have pulled 12 prawn traps now all around norris rocks and out in front of tribune bay came home with a total of 150 prawns now, are there just not many out there this year?
i have tryed prawn bait with oil, and cat food, any ideas where else to go in the courtenay - deep bay area?

I think that area is slowly getting prawned out.... I know the "old gang" from Bowser Bills fishing resort set out traps in that area lots.... BUT now that they have moved up to Campbell river im sure they will come back in a year or two....

fwiw.... they usually prawned from july to sept ...

Try around Flora on the outside, 280-350 feet of water.

I'd second the Flora suggestion inside and outside. Move around(cause the prawns do) a bit and try new spots in the general area. Try different depths too. You'll be amazed sometimes what can happen. All trial and error. When you find a hot spot mark it on your gps if you have one and don't tell anyone....
