Welcome to the wet coast Drake. I think you'll find that the waterfowl tastes a bit different out here.........no need to salt them before eating!

I was fortunate enough to hunt around Ft. Saskatchewan, Alberta a few years back. It was awesome and quite different to the hunting we do around here. Coffin blinds were a new experience and I bet they would work well here as I don't know of anyone who uses them. The corn field I hunt would be good for these.
Thanks for posting the pics, nice big birds!

Thanks guys....Im from edmonton, but chase birds all over the province. In the past three years i have guided for an Outfitter near Red Deer in central Alberta. Im living in Port Mcneill and managed to get out once in early January. I killed a couple of mallards and a nice GW teal. I pass shot these, as my decoy rig is back home along with my blinds and boat etc. The lack of fields here will surely aid in the devlopment of
my "big water" bird hunting skills.

If anyone would like to swap hunts this year.....AB field shooting, for some BC coast hunting, let me know and we can try and make some arrangments. As Dano can probally attest, the gunning on the AB praries is funauminal (sp?).

Dano.....Im assuming you must know someone in the Fort. Sask area, or went with an outfitter....it's became quite the struggle to get permission out that way. There is however some amazing shoots to be had, espcially late in the season.

Drake,
When my dad retired from fisheries his friends (who guide) told him to come out for a hunt. I was fortunate to be asked along.
His friends are Gord Benn and Ken Swanson, if you know them you know I had great guys and excellent dogs for the hunt!
We hunted pea fields and did well. Layout coffin blinds was certainly different and the shots were close. I dropped a double on mallards and one hit dad on his leg in the blind.
Dad hunts Bittern Lake area too, always does well there but I know of one time he got there late october and was froze out.
Don't know much about ducks up around McNeil except the fishing is excellent. I have fished Telegraph Cove many times and always do well there.
