I bought a deep cycle battery from Crappy Tire for mine. Was about $60 I think. I've had it for 3 years now it still works great. I just have to remember to keep it charged during the winter.

I have the same battery as above and it works allright, But i think the best battery to get is an r.v. battery or the like. You dont need cranking amps for an electric motor.

I use the Optima Yellow top battery in my river boat and use it for the water pump when in camp. I like it as there is no acid that can spill and it has a very long lasting charge which would be good for the trolling motor.

One good thing "Easy warranty", if you think it sucks they just give you a brand new one!

I got one of them CanTire cheap-o's 4 or 5 years ago for my little electric trolling motor, and it's still going strong. Never had any problems at all. I hear the gel batteries are better, but for my $79.99, I think I got my money's worth. :)
