At least that's what I thought till I went out to Ladner and sat in the marsh while I watched the guy beside me lure ducks in and shoot!!!

he seemed to have a baby mojo or some wing spinner...

anyway I'm sold!

I'm one week into this addiction and the guys I've gone with typically hang in the marsh and shoot at the ducks that fly low enough before they are spotted....

id really like to kick it up!

im sold on blinds and camo cause they clearly see me and fly the other direction. I'm in the process of building a guille suit.

id like to drive down to cabelas and get some deeks, but damn its a hard topic to get my head around.

can I please get some advice on the spread I should get.

I live in Richmond so my two main hunting areas will be the Ladner duke at the end of 64th that looks out to poiint roberts and the dyke across from Westham island.

id love to know what kind of set up I can use there as there is water but I'm afraid if I shoot over water I won't be able to retrieve...

Sorry to ask such a basic question, but in pretty lost.

One more thing, if there is anyone that wouldn't mind a tag along, id love to Learn from you! I have a couple restaurants so my schedule is flexible and of course the boose and eats are on me!

If they were Eddie Murphy movies,

one would be 48 hrs (gastown) and the other Daddy daycare (Steveston)

If you are going to get some decoys, start out with a dozen floaters and a mojo or baby mojo. The baby mojo is just smaller than the regular mojo. Just make sure you get the one with the rechargeable battery not the one that takes double a's.

Flambeau not got best rep for paint lasting. I would look at other options for decoys IMO.

Just remember you have to pack 3 doz that is a lot to carry unless you get a cart as well.

Have a dozen of these from FA and they are holding up a lot better than the Flambeau's. Currently I'm using 12 Flambeau Storm Front, 12 FA Gunner Standards, 6 Oversized FA Mallards and a Puddler 6 pack, plus a baby MoJo. Lots to carry but I don't have far to drag them.

Grab yourself 18 Cabela's Northern Flight Oversized Mallard Floater Decoys, a decoy bag, a pair of baby mojo's (do big bores remote conversion) a boat of some sorts (if you don't have a dog) - (lay out blinds work really well down there but get lightest you can) - go and have fun.

PM me your cell number and I'll tell you the next time I'm going out in the delta, if you want to tag along.

I just purchased some tangle free decoys and they are really nice. Had to jump out of the blind and get a guy not to pull the trigger that was stalking my decoys. we use 12 drakes and 12 hens.

I'm no expert only but only my second season but if your interested maybe we could work something out to go for a hunt. PM me with more details if you interested.

I always enjoyed my GHG decoys and they stood up well for me. Mojo with rechargeable batteries and remote. I also like to use a "confidence decoy" or two. Normally one or two geese floaters.

2 dozen would most likely be plenty depending where your hunting. Larger spreads arent always need but easier for ducks to see ifvthey are not flying close by. Doesnt matter though if your setup where the ducks want to be.

Camoflauge use lots of the surrounding vegetation to conceal yourself. Doesnt matter how well your camoflauged though if your watching the ducks as they come. Specially if your face is bare.

If the ducks are decoying well but start flaring when they get close have avlook at the surrounding area. There something out of place that the ducks are noticing and not liking. Could be the glare off a spent casing or thermos for example.

Dont forget to leave a place in your spread for the ducks to land. Dont be afraid to change up the spread if the ducks are landig to far away.

Learn when to call and when not to call. If your not a good caller yet than normally less is better. Basic quack to get their attention and come back call if they keep going or come in and try to bugger off. Lots of other calls but take longer to learn. Practice in the off season.
