I have a burris fullfield e1 which I believe was around $500. For the price range it's a pretty nice scope and I would recommend it.

Keep your scope in you’d be wasting 500. Better off going to the 800-1100 dollar range. Consider a vx3HD or a swaro z3

Why not stay with the vx2? For sub-$500 you’re probably looking at a vortex and I’d avoid that to be honest.
